Family Day 2013
We celebrated 5 years as a family this weekend. We usually only make a day of it but this time since it was our 5th we decided to make it a trip! Our weekend began as we measured everyone against the board in their room. We started measuring them on family day instead of their birthdays. Laura grew about 4 inches this year. WOW! Then we went to Pittsburgh for 2 days and stayed in a hotel which is always fun. The next day began with some small gifts. We gave the girls some new story books from some South American authors. These were recommended from a blogging friend.
We also gave them some map puzzles that we picked up while in Bogota and some chocolate cookies that we ate in Colombia. We try to celebrate not only our family but also the girls Colombian heritage. Next, we were off to the National Aviary (we just studied birds in school) and had a great time feeding the different birds and watching some good shows. Next we walked over to the Children's Museum to do some crafts. The girls spent quite a bit of time at a sewing station. R-made a bonnet for her AG doll, A-made a pouch that turned into a puppet complete with button eyes, and L-made a purse for her AG doll. I never realized how much they enjoy and want to do more sewing. After swimming and eating we gave the girls a new game to play in the hotel room. On the last day we were supposed to go to the Natural History Museum, but Mami made a mistake. I purposely bought a science center membership thinking it would get us in but through some oversight it did not work at the museum. Since we didn't have much time to spend there, we didn't pay to get in. After heading home Papi and Mami decided to take the girls to see Despicable me 2 instead. Everyone had a good weekend!
